"The Big Bang Theory" is popular for its comedic brilliance and character development over its 12-season run. However, a stain on this reputation is one episode from Season 11 called "The Decision Reverberation." The episode stirred controversy for veering away from the show’s central characters, Leonard and Penny, to focus on supporting characters. This was viewed as a misstep as it stunted the relationship progression of characters that fans most resonated with.
There was also a perceived failure in the scriptwriting, wherein various subplots and unrelated storylines, such as Raj's adopted dog, felt forced and lackluster and contributed nothing significant to the narrative. In addition, the episode's humor diminished. The jokes housed neither the usual wit nor cleverness for which the sitcom is respected.
